Day 25/100 Ted Talks — Violence Against Women, A Men’s Issue

He calls for men to speak up when other men show any kind of abusive speech or behavior. Amen. Silence is complicity.
While listening to the intro this came to mind and couldn't be left unsaid: My partner Greg Smithwick is an expert at this and he’s changed my life with his constant and patient reminders to me about things like gendered insults and a bunch of other things I’m not sure i ever would have thought of.
Calling violence against women a Women’s Issue is the first fail.
One of the key elements of dominance or privileged is the tendency to go Un-Examined. See also: Anyone who posts any reference to All Lives Matter. They’re clearly denying that there is anything in them to be examined.
The linguistic difference between “John beat Mary” down to “Mary is a battered woman.” is so clutch.
Our whole cognitive structure is designed to end up blaming the victim.
This guy is fired up and i LIKE it!
